It\u2019s my birthday today, and you know who doesn\u2019t care? \u00a0The animals. \u00a0All these years and I have yet to hear them say, \u201cYou know you\u2019ve worked hard this past year for us. \u00a0We\u2019ll take care of ourselves today.\u201d \u00a0They are actually quite demanding. \u00a0I\u2019m expected at the barn at least twice a day even when I\u2019m sick with the flu. \u00a0There\u2019s a growing trend of etiquette classes being advertised for children in our area. \u00a0Somehow farm animals have been overlooked. \u00a0I don\u2019t let my children act like animals, so why do I let our farm animals off the hook. \u00a0All of them are incredibly spoiled and are expected to do very little for themselves. \u00a0It\u2019s very simple, yet the chickens won\u2019t close the door of their coop at night. \u00a0I have to do that. \u00a0Our horse won\u2019t brush his own hair. \u00a0I even have to pay a farrier to come every 6 weeks to take off his shoes. \u00a0Our cows moo while chewing with their mouths full of cud. \u00a0The goats could use a lesson on putting others before themselves, as they don\u2019t share alfalfa well with the sheep. \u00a0It\u2019s outright gross when the cat doesn\u2019t throw his leftover mouse parts in the garbage. \u00a0Our dog needs a lesson in not taking what\u2019s not his as he once chewed up a visitor\u2019s cowboy boot left out on the porch. \u00a0My daughter\u2019s hermit crabs won\u2019t come out to greet visitors. \u00a0And the sheep won\u2019t stop baaing when I\u2019m trying to think. \u00a0And, they all rudely\u00a0ignore me when I scold them for not caring about their poor manners. \u00a0Their stockings will not be filled this year with treats. \u00a0Instead, they’ll each get a copy of Emily Post\u2019s Etiquette<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
