My husband is responsible for teaching medical students and residents on how to be emergency medicine doctors. \u00a0Reading our stories of life on the franch, you may be thinking of how you want to know which ER he\u2019s at with plans to avoid it. \u00a0But, he\u2019s actually really, really good at keeping people alive!! \u00a0So, these students of his\u00a0know a lot about how to save your life and also a lot about our life on the franch \u2013 some like to hear the stories\u00a0and those who don’t certainly act like they do because, you know, there’s a written evaluation at the end of every shift. \u00a0Recently, a resident emailed my\u00a0husband & asked for\u00a0a franch update to be published in their upcoming\u00a0residency newsletter. \u00a0 I don\u2019t know that my husband has ever responded to an email from a resident so quickly. \u00a0He was so honored.\u00a0 And, this is what he wrote,<\/p>\n
\u201cHowdy. \u00a0I appreciate being able to give an unforced update about the franch. \u00a0Usually I force people to listen while I tell them about the franch. \u00a0So, the cows are bred and growing their babies well. \u00a0However, my daughter realized one of the cows isn\u2019t ours. \u00a0When we took them up to a ranch with a bull, we got the wrong one back. \u00a0My daughter feeds them and has quite the attention to detail and figured out the one black and white one looks much different from the other black and white one. \u00a0The goat is milking. \u00a0She still limps a bit from the leg injury\/sepsis thing, but the milk tastes good. \u00a0I\u2019m trying to get back into the cheese thing, but the lousy goat baby keeps drinking all my milk. \u00a0The blind goat is now living large in Houston. \u00a0He sure made out pretty well. \u00a0Pretty lucky to be born blind, or he\u2019d be at market a long time ago. \u00a0Instead he lives as a mascot, wearing funny hats at a vet\u2019s office and goes by the name Capt. Jack (see attached image). \u00a0And don\u2019t believe the lie that sheep eat quietly and serenely in a pasture. \u00a0We got this one loud sheep that is so loud I can\u2019t hardly take it anymore. \u00a0I just wasted a thousand dollars on hay. \u00a0I bought the hay because the stuff looks really good. \u00a0Well, the cows won\u2019t eat it. \u00a0Everyday, I spend time trying to trick the cows into eating this hay. \u00a0I put it in different feeders. \u00a0I mix grain\/other hay into it. \u00a0I yell at the cows over and over to eat it. \u00a0These bales are huge round bales, so there\u2019s a real problem of what to do with this stuff. \u00a0If anyone wants some really cheap hay, now is the time to offer me a really cheap price. \u00a0And that\u2019s all there is to know about life on the franch.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n The resident responded, \u201cI was actually only looking for one, maybe two, sentences.\u201d<\/p>\n
